Firstly, I want you to know that I understand how you’re feeling. I’ve struggled with my relationship to food and body. I’ve been stuck in that dieting cycle and I saw food as the enemy. I’ve attempted to control my body’s size, shape, ability; hyperfocused on what I ate and how I ate it. I was the child who always “struggled with weight”. I was called fat and mortified by the name.
Then, I entered the field of nutrition and dietetics and quickly witnessed the incredibly harmful ways of our culture’s perception of health and wellness. The falsity of so-called “scientific research” in our media is injuring our abilities to take care of ourselves and, ultimately, negatively influencing our physical health and mental health.
Enough about my story . . .
I am here to listen to you, to hear you, and to have a better understanding of your human experience in this world. Tell me about your relationship to food and to your body. Let’s explore these relationships and re-learn how you can best take care of your whole self.
Courtney completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, B.S. at Simmons University in Boston, MA. She then went on to complete her 1200-hour supervised dietetic internship (essential step to becoming a dietitian) at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Soon after, Courtney went back to Simmons University to pursue a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion. She has trained with and received mentorship from brilliant eating disorder professionals in the Greater Boston area whilst working hands-on with clients as an outpatient eating disorder dietitian for over 8 years.
Courtney offers evidence-based nutritional counseling for those with a history of chronic dieting, feeding or eating concerns, disordered eating behaviors, and eating disorders of all diagnoses. Her focus is on the whole person as she incorporates a non-diet approach, Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size® (HAES) into her counseling strategy to take a deep dive into the client’s relationship with food and body, with a goal to, ultimately, find inner peace and food freedom.
